Happy World Thinking Day & Founder’s Day!

Happy World Thinking Day & Founder's Day!

Every year on February 22nd, the global Scouting and Guiding movement pauses for a moment of reflection, gratitude, and of course celebration. For us at Poacher International Jamboree, this date isn't just a mark on the calendar, it is when we celebrate all the internationals that have ever supported Poacher International Jamboree.

Whether you call it World Thinking Day or Founder’s Day, today is about recognising that we are part of something much bigger than our local units. We are a global family of over 60 million people, all connected by a shared promise to leave the world a little better than we found it.

While today is for thinking about our international sisters and brothers, this summer is for meeting them!

In just a few months, the Lincolnshire Showground will transform into a global village for Poacher 2026. From August 1st – 8th, thousands of Scouts and Guides from all across the globe will descend on Lincoln for a week of an adventure of a lifetime.

If you’re counting down the days until the Jamboree, here are three ways to get into the Poacher spirit this February 22nd:

  1. Wear Your Scarf with Pride: Whether you’re at work, or home, wear your uniform or neckerchief to show the world you belong to this incredible movement.

  2. Learn a New Greeting: We’ll have participants from several countries at Poacher. Try learning “Hello” or “Friendship” in three different languages today.

  3. Share Your Story: Post a photo of your favourite Scouting or Guiding memory using #WTD2026 and #Poacher2026. Let’s flood social media with the spirit of adventure!

We look forward to the future we are building together. We can’t wait to see the Lincolnshire sky filled with the flags of many nations and the laughter of new friends this August.

Happy World Thinking Day and Founder’s Day to our entire global family!

Rachel only found out about Poacher in 2015, as she is not from Lincolnshire but some of her family attended the first Poacher in 1977! She is Joint Head of Communications for Poacher 2026 and is now sad that the colours are no longer orange, as she loves and has a lot of orange merch!
