Activity Lanyard Information for Leaders

Activity Lanyard Information for Leaders

Find out all the information required to know about the Activity Lanyard!

Leaders will be supplied with the following items which will require combining and then supplying to participants:

Lanyard, Carabiner & Tickets

  • 1x Red Poacher Activities Lanyard
  • 1x Carabiner (See below for colours)
  • 12x Adventurous Activity Tickets (One AM and one PM per day)

Card Holder

  • 1x Card Holder
  • (Used to store the Poacher Map and Poacher Challenge card)

Card Holder Participant Sticker

  • 1x Participant Information Sticker

The activity lanyards contain pre allocated tickets – all coded and numbered (Please do not mix up the 12 pre allocated tickets on each lanyard as these ensure participants will have two guaranteed age-related activities each day).  The lanyards can be randomly handed out to your participants however the lanyards are age related and the correct colour carabiner must be handed to the correct participant age:

Before handing the lanyard to participants please can leaders ensure that the card holder is clipped to the silver lanyard clip and affix the correct participant sticker to the card holder.

The card holder is used to store the Poacher Map and the Poacher Challenge Card.

Timings

Activities run from Sunday to Friday, usually starting at 9.30am through to 12.30pm, break for lunch and then from 2.00pm to 5.00pm. Some activities may operate outside of these times, particularly if transport is necessary.  It is important that participants are in the correct location at the given time (as indicated on their ticket) – If anything, arrive early!

Ticketing

Tickets are the passport to adventure! To help participants fit as much as possible into their experience, Poacher operates an Activity Ticketing system, this helps Scouts and Guides to avoid long queues. With tickets, participants will know what they will be doing, and when and where they need to be.  The flexibility of the ticketing system allows them to plan out the activities they wish to take part in throughout the week and, whilst a ticket will guarantee them access to an activity at a specific time (think of it like a theme park fast track pass), participants are also able to queue up for any activity even if they don’t have a ticket – filling in spaces should they become available.  Some activities are not ticketed, use the Programme Guide to discover which activities are open to all.

Ticket Allocation Vs Permissions

Due to the time to print tickets and build up the lanyards these are often manufactured before participants activity permission data has been completed.  In the unfortunate event that participants receive a ticket for an activity they don’t have permission to take part in (and an internal swop can’t be arranged within your group) leaders can visit the Subcamp HQ team to exchange the ticket at the earliest opportunity.  This facility is not available to swop unwanted tickets, purely for activities participants don’t have permission to take part in (See below for general swapping!)

Swapping Tickets

If participants no longer wish to take part in an activity please encourage them to swap their ticket with another participant, or return it to the Subcamp Activity HQ, so that someone else may take part in the activity.  Subcamp will release new tickets each day at their “Swop Shop”.

New tickets

Subcamps release new tickets each day which can be collected at their “Swop Shop”

Creative Activities

Participants are welcome to explore the Creative Activities at their own pace without tickets.

Global Development Village (GDV)

Participants will be able to register for the Global Development Village by collecting a GDV ticket from the GDV marquee.  There are six areas to experience within the GDV marquee: Conflict Resolution, Environment, Health, Poverty, Science & Technology and World Faith.  Upon completion of these six areas the GDV ticket can be exchanged for the GDV badge.

Offsite Activities & Trips

NEW FOR 2026 – Participants must visit the Transport Ticket Hub to book a ticket.  Participants can visit at anytime during the week to book an offsite activity or offsite trip where they will be given a ticket with the offsite details.  Should participants no longer wish to go on the booked activity/trip they should return this to the Transport Ticket Hub so that others may make use of the it.

Participants should ensure they arrive at the Transport hub at the time indicated on their offsite ticket.

The Transport hub will operate a reserve queue for offsite activities, if they don’t have a ticket participants might be able to make up spaces so it is always worth bringing their kit at departures times.  New trips might appear during the week so it is worth checking with the Transport Ticket Hub throughout the week.

Rachel

Rachel only found out about Poacher in 2015, as she is not from Lincolnshire but some of her family attended the first Poacher in 1977! She is Joint Head of Communications for Poacher 2026 and is now sad that the colours are no longer orange, as she loves and has a lot of orange merch!
