If you are coming as a leader with your group, we want to say, thank you for taking your time to volunteer for the week. As we couldn't run Poacher without you!
You might be leader in charge for your group, first aider, QM, supporting a young person with additional needs or supporting your group in general to be at Poacher.
Through reviewing the group bookings, we recognise that a lot of groups have a high ratio of leaders to participants, and that there will be different reasons for this.
However, we will be asking groups who have high numbers of leaders compared to participants to see if some of their leaders can support Poacher by joining our staff teams. All vacant staff roles can be found here.
Staff who attend can still camp and eat meals with their groups. When they apply for the staff role, they just need to add it in the ‘Camping Location’ section of the form OR they can email in to bookings@poacher.org.uk to update your camping location preferences.
During the Poacher week, if leaders find that they have some spare time, please go to your Subcamp HQ and they will be able to direct you to the best place for support. It is likely that we will need support around chaperoning participants on the offsite activities.
Please note that Poacher 2026 will not be running a leader training programme. A programme has been run at previous events, but historically the take up of the programme has been limited.

Rachel only found out about Poacher in 2015, as she is not from Lincolnshire but some of her family attended the first Poacher in 1977! She is Joint Head of Communications for Poacher 2026 and is now sad that the colours are no longer orange, as she loves and has a lot of orange merch!
