Be part of bringing the adventure of a lifetime to over 5,500 Scouting and Girlguiding members, by volunteering to be part of the Poacher 2026 staff team. We are looking for individuals who are willing to support with the planning and lead up to the event, along with during the actual week of Poacher 2026: 1st – 8th August 2026.
Poacher prides itself on a diverse range of activities accessible by all participants. We also provide ourselves on the range of displays and outside agencies who take part in Poacher. We are looking for a team leader to facilitate a wide range of daily activities for participants via local charities and providers wishing to display at Poacher.
Daytime Events Team Leader will need to ensure suitable locations are set up and prepared for all visiting providers. They will need to ensure that all visiting agencies are booked onto Poacher and have appropriate ID.
Applicants must be or become adult members of The Scout Association and/or Guide Association, including completion of DBS check and complete mandatory ongoing learning including Safety, Safeguarding, First Aid and Data Protection.
Requirements:
- To organise and facilitate all external companies/providers to display at Poacher.
- To explore opportunities from commercial providers/charities/sports (e.g. Police, Fire, etc).
- To arrange access for external providers.
- To liaise with other Programme teams.
Key tasks:
- Pre-event booking and liaison with companies/charities.
- Liaison with Head of programme to facilitate pre-event logistics.
- Liaison with Admin team to ensure all IDs and pre-event checks are completed.
- Facilitate set up and take down of providers during the event.
- Ensure that the providers are looked after during the event.
- Ensure all risk assessments (and other documents) are provided to the Head of Programme prior to the event.
